Recipe For Deep Cleaning Your Crock Pot

A crockpot or slow cooker is a kitchen appliance that is used for cooking meals at low temperatures. It is a great tool to have for those who want to prepare delicious and healthy meals without spending too much time in the kitchen.

However, with regular use, crockpots can accumulate grime and grease, making them difficult to clean.

This is where a DIY recipe for deep cleaning a crockpot comes in handy.

In this blog, we will provide you with a step-by-step guide on how to deep clean your crockpot using simple ingredients that you probably already have in your kitchen.

Step 1: Gather Your Materials

Before you begin cleaning your crockpot, you will need to gather the necessary materials. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Baking soda
  • Dish soap
  • White vinegar
  • Water
  • Soft-bristle brush or sponge
  • Microfiber cloth
  • Lemon (optional)

Step 2: Remove Any Loose Debris

The first step in deep cleaning your crockpot is to remove any loose debris, such as food particles or crumbs. You can use a soft-bristle brush or sponge to gently scrub the inside of the crockpot and remove any debris.

Step 3: Make a Baking Soda Paste

Baking soda is a natural and effective cleaning agent that can be used to clean a variety of surfaces. To create a baking soda paste, mix equal parts baking soda and water in a small bowl. The paste should be thick enough to stick to the sides of the crockpot.

Step 4: Apply the Baking Soda Paste

Using a sponge or soft-bristle brush, apply the baking soda paste to the inside of the crockpot. Make sure to cover all the areas that need to be cleaned. Let the paste sit for 15-20 minutes to allow it to work its magic.

Step 5: Scrub with a Soft-Bristle Brush

After the baking soda paste has been sitting for 15-20 minutes, use a soft-bristle brush to scrub the inside of the crockpot. Be gentle when scrubbing to avoid damaging the surface of the crockpot.

Step 6: Rinse with Water

Once you have finished scrubbing the crockpot, rinse it thoroughly with water to remove any remaining baking soda residue.

Step 7: Create a Vinegar and Water Solution

White vinegar is another natural cleaning agent that can be used to clean a crockpot. To create a vinegar and water solution, mix equal parts white vinegar and water in a bowl.

Step 8: Apply the Vinegar and Water Solution

Using a microfiber cloth, apply the vinegar and water solution to the inside of the crockpot. Make sure to cover all the areas that need to be cleaned.

Step 9: Let It Sit

After applying the vinegar and water solution, let it sit for 15-20 minutes to allow it to work its magic.

Step 10: Rinse with Water

Once the vinegar and water solution has been sitting for 15-20 minutes, rinse the crockpot thoroughly with water to remove any remaining residue.

Step 11: Wash with Dish Soap

To ensure that your crockpot is completely clean, wash it with dish soap and water. Use a soft-bristle brush or sponge to gently scrub the inside of the crockpot. Rinse the crockpot thoroughly with water to remove any soap residue.

Step 12: Dry the Crockpot

Finally, use a clean towel to dry the crockpot thoroughly. Make sure to dry all the nooks and crannies to prevent any moisture from lingering.

Optional Step: Use a Lemon to Deodorize

If you want to give your crockpot a fresh scent, you can use a lemon to deodorize it. Cut a lemon in half and rub it on the inside of the crockpot. The natural oils in the lemon will help to eliminate any lingering odors.
